A Gender Neutral, Muted Blue, Collected Nursery

The day is finally here - the nursery reveal!

I’m thrilled to share a few before and after photos with you. It’s SO important to me to start with a plan in place for a room design. Below you’ll find my ‘brief’ design to get the bones of the room in place. I will link everything that I can and include the overall cost for this space at the bottom.

Goals

  • Choose a paint color that is outside my comfort zone, yet is also neutral (boy/girl).

  • Make the space feel collected and cozy. No ‘nursery theme’ for this space.

  • Let the wall trim shine. Minimal decor (mainly functional items).

The Design Plan

The Before Photos

On the left is how the room looked when we bought the house. On the right is the photo I shared when we announced our little babe to the social media world (we painted the room, got new carpet and put together the crib).

Specifics

Because this is our third baby, we had the rocking chair and crib already and I wanted to use those items again. I wanted to design a space that incorporated things we had, things I made, and things that made this space unique for our little one.

I truly wanted this space to feel calm, cozy, and collected.

The Dresser

I wanted a dresser/changing table with some character. I found this stunning piece at an antique shop/on FB Marketplace. We painted it, installed new hardware, fixed a few drawers, and it’s truly stunning.
